A cigar humidor is an essential item for any cigar enthusiast. It provides the perfect environment to store and age your cigars, ensuring that they stay fresh and flavorful. But before you can start using your humidor, you need to season it properly. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to season a cigar humidor.

Step 1: Prepare your humidor Start by wiping down the inside of your humidor with a clean, damp cloth to remove any dust or debris. Make sure the humidifier and hygrometer are in place and functioning properly. It’s also a good idea to calibrate your hygrometer to ensure that it’s accurate.

Step 2: Add distilled water to the humidifier Fill your humidifier with distilled water and place it in the humidor. Make sure the humidifier is not touching the cigars, as this can cause them to become too moist.

Step 3: Close the humidor and wait Close the lid of the humidor and wait for at least 24 hours. During this time, the humidity inside the humidor will begin to rise. You may notice some condensation on the walls of the humidor, which is normal.

Step 4: Check the humidity level After 24 hours, check the humidity level inside the humidor using the hygrometer. The humidity should be between 65-70%. If it’s lower, add more distilled water to the humidifier and wait another 24 hours before checking again.

Step 5: Repeat the process Repeat the process of adding water and waiting until the humidity inside the humidor stabilizes at 65-70%. This may take several days, depending on the size of your humidor and the climate in which you live.

Step 6: Add cigars to the humidor Once the humidity inside the humidor has stabilized, it’s time to add your cigars. Make sure the cigars are properly humidified before placing them in the humidor. Leave the humidor closed for a few hours to allow the humidity to stabilize again.

By following these steps, you can properly season your cigar humidor and ensure that your cigars stay fresh and flavorful. Remember to check the humidity level regularly and add more distilled water as needed. With proper care and maintenance, your humidor will provide the perfect environment for storing and aging your cigars for years to come.
